Then, select "Payroll Items List". Here, you will see all the items that can be deducted or added to an employee's paycheck. For this tutorial, we will create two items. The first item we will create is for child support payments. To do this, click on "New Payroll Item", choose "Easy Setup", and select "Other Deduction". Then, label it as "Miscellaneous" and specify that it is for the California child support services. Enter the account or reference number provided in the child support notice. Finally, indicate the payment frequency (e.g., monthly, weekly, bi-weekly). Next, we will create a reimbursement item for things that the employee owes to the employer, such as personal charges on a company credit card or the use of a company cell phone. This will be secondary to the child support deduction. Follow the same steps as before, but label it accordingly. Once both items are created, make sure they are added to the list. You can then rename the child support deduction if desired, adding the name of the employee for clarity. Alternatively, you can leave it blank for a general deduction. That's it! You have successfully created payroll deductions for child support and reimbursements.
